Fiscal Year 2022 H-1B Registration Information Follow-Up

On February 5, 2021, USCIS announced that the initial registration period for the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY 2022) H-1B cap will open at noon Eastern on March 9, 2021 and run through noon Eastern on March 25, 2021. Based on this information, please see the updated registration timeline below. All of the other information in our previous email (below this one) remains the same.

H-1B Registration Timeline

Before March 9, 2021: Prospective employers need to create a myUSCIS registrant account (N/A if you already have an H-1B registrant account from last year’s electronic registration)

  • We will be sending a separate email with detailed instructions for setting up and linking your registrant account with our representative account, so please let us know if you plan to register any beneficiaries this year and you did not create a registrant account last year.

March 9, 2021: H-1B registration period opens

  • During this timeframe, our office will register each prospective H-1B employee you wish to sponsor.

March 25, 2021: H-1B registration period closes

March 31, 2021: Date by which USCIS intends to notify registrants selected in the lottery

April 1, 2021: Earliest date that H-1B cap-subject petitions for October 1, 2021 may be filed

June 30, 2021: Filing deadline for H-1B cap-subject petitions that were selected in the initial lottery If you haven’t already done so, please let us know as soon as possible if you have any employees who may require H-1B sponsorship, including employees who were not selected in last year’s lottery, and please click here to complete the Employer Checklist: H-1B Cap Registration form that our office has created to collect the required employer information for us to prepare your electronic registrations. Please note that this form only needs to be filled out once by each prospective employer. After you submit the Employer Checklist, we will send you a Beneficiary Checklist to complete for each prospective H-1B employee you wish to register, along with an engagement letter and fee agreement regarding the costs and fees for both the H-1B registrations and H-1B petitions for beneficiaries selected in the lottery.
